SHEPHERD'S PIE 
2 c. prepared mashed potatoes
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 onion
garlic powder
salt and pepper
2 cans vegetable soup or 1 1/2 c. frozen mixed vegetables
1 small can tomato sauce (optional)

Prepare potatoes. Set aside. Chop onion and sauté in skillet until just brown. Add hamburger meat. Brown and crumble. Add salt, pepper and garlic or garlic powder. Add vegetable soup or frozen vegetables (with beef bouillon cube). Add water to make a light sauce or add tomato sauce. Put in casserole. Cover top with mashed potatoes. Brush top with melted butter.

Bake at 350°F about 30 to 45 minutes until potatoes are nice brown.

Cheese may be sprinkled at the last of baking time.
