HELEN'S DOUBLE CHOCOLATE
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
3/4 c. cocoa powder
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 (12 oz.) pkg. (2 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 c. walnuts or chopped pecans, optional

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Stir together flour, soda, cocoa and salt, set aside. In a mixer bowl beat butter on medium speed until soft. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add dry ingredients until well combined. Stir in chocolate pieces and nuts.

Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes, until done. Remove from pan to cool. Makes about 72 cookies.
