THUMB PRINT COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. milk
1/4 (6 oz.) pkg. (1/4 c.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels, chopped
3/4 c. sifted confectioners' sugar

Sift flour and salt. Blend butter, sugar and vanilla. Add flour mixture, milk, semi-sweet. Form in 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. With thumb, make depression in center of balls. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Roll several times while warm in confectioners' sugar. Cool.

FILLING:

3/4 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. light corn syrup
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt semi-sweet and shortening over hot (not boiling) water. Stir in remaining ingredients until smooth. let cool 5 minutes. Fill cookies. Makes 3 dozen.
