2 c. meal
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. melted butter or bacon grease
2 c. buttermilk
1 egg

Place cast iron skillet with 2 teaspoons melted bacon grease in it in 425 degree oven to heat up while mixing up the cornbread. Mix all the ingredients together and beat only until egg is beat up and mixed in good. Pour into greased hot skillet. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
