BREAKFAST COFFEE CAKE 
3/8 c. butter
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 1/4 c. plain flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 egg

Cream butter and sugar. Add flour. Reserve 1/2 cup crumb mixture for topping. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add with first mixture. Pour into square shallow pan. Sprinkle crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes.
