EMPANADAS DE FRUTA 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
8 tbsp. shortening
4-6 tbsp. water
1 tsp. salt

Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening and mix well. Add enough water to make a medium dough. Roll out dough to a 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into circles about 3 inches in diameter. Fill each circle with fruit filling.

FRUIT FILLING:

2 c. cooked dried fruit
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves

Pass drained fruit through colander. Add sugar and spices. Press edges of filled dough, and pinch ends to seal. Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown.
