FREDA'S CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE 
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. cocoa
2 c. milk
4 lg. egg yolks
2 tbsp. butter, melted & cooled
1 baked 9" pie shell
Meringue for 9" pie

Combine 1 1/4 cups sugar, flour and cocoa in heavy saucepan. Combine milk, egg yolks and melted butter, beat using a wire whisk until well blended. Gradually add milk mixture, stirring until smooth. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly (about 10 minutes). Spoon into pie shell. Cover with meringue and brown in oven.

MERINGUE FOR CHOCOLATE PIE:

4 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
Dash of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until foamy with electric mixer. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla mix.
