OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE 
1 3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. oatmeal, uncooked
1 c. white sugar
2 lg. eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cocoa
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes. Add sugar and butter. Add eggs and beat well. Add dry ingredients and mix. Blend in half of chocolate chips. Pour batter into 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle remaining chips and nuts on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
