AUNT CLAUDIA'S POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
3 c. cake flour
2 sticks whipped butter or 1 stick of plain butter
1/2 c. shortening
4 or 5 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 c. milk

Cream shortening and butter. Add sugar and 1/2 the milk and blend. Add eggs, one at a time with the remaining milk and flour. Add flavoring. Place in a cold oven. Bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees, then turn oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes longer. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR UNTIL CAKE IS DONE.
