BASIC WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
1 tbsp. active dry yeast (1 pkg.) 1 3/4 c. warm water 2 tbsp. raw honey or molasses 2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. dry milk powder 2 tbsp. safflower oil 4 - 4 1/2 c. whole wheat flour Pour water into large bowl, sprinkle with yeast. Allow to dissolve. Add honey, salt, dry milk, oil and 2 cups flour. Stir well, continue stirring adding a little flour at a time until dough becomes soft and pulls away from side of bowl. Turn dough onto floured board. Knead 7 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. Shape dough and place in greased pan. Allow loaf to rise in warm spot until double. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until done. |
