CARAMEL BROWNIES 
2 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
4 egg yolks
2 tsp. baking powder
3 c. cake flour

Cream sugar and butter until fluffy. Add beaten egg yolks. Sift flour and baking powder together and stir in slowly. Pat mixture into bottom of greased and lightly floured 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch pan. Mix the following ingredients and spread over first layer.

4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
2 c. brown sugar, light
1 c. pecans, chopped
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Makes 50 one inch squares.
