CHOCOLATE PUDDING 
2 c. milk
1 sq. chocolate or 1/4 c. cocoa + 1 tsp. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Put milk and chocolate into top of double boiler, saving out 1/4 cup milk. Mix together the sugar, cornstarch and salt and add the cold milk. Stir this mixture into the hot milk, as soon as the chocolate is thoroughly melted. Cook, stirring constantly (about 10 minutes). Remove from fire, add vanilla and pour into serving dessert cups. Serve with cream. Using a "whisk" instead of a spoon prevents pudding from lumps.
