SOFT PRETZELS 
1 pkg. yeast
1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
3/4 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
4 c. flour (can use half whole wheat flour, if you like)
1 egg
Coarse salt

In large bowl soften yeast in water. Add salt and sugar. Mix in flour. Knead to soft smooth dough. Do not let rise!

Cut into small pieces (between the size of a walnut and an egg). Roll into ropes and shape like pretzels, or initials, or what you will.

Put on foiled covered cookie sheets, not too close together. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake in 425 degree oven 25 minutes or until brown.
