1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. flour
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. water
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda

Combine in saucepan butter, shortening, cocoa and water. Bring to rapid boil. Have ready in bowl, flour and sugar, sifted together. Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar. Mix rapidly then add buttermilk, eggs, cinnamon, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well and pour into 2 (9") cake pans that have been prepared with shortening and flour. Bake at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. Ice with boiled frosting.
