OVEN BEEF STEW 
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 lbs. beef chuck; cut in 1 inch cubes
2 tbsp. shortening
1 (10 1/2 oz.) cans, condensed tomato soup
1 1/2 c. onions, chopped
1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
4 med. potatoes, cubed
4 med.carrots, 1 inch pieces
1/2 c. dry red wine, or water

Combine flour, salt and dash pepper; coat meat cubes in seasoned flour. Brown in hot shortening in Dutch oven; add soup, 2 1/2 cups water, onion and basil. Cover and bake in 375 degree oven about 1 hour. longer or until tender. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
