CREAM PIE FILLING 
2 c. scaled milk (whole)
2/3 c. sugar
Dash of salt
3 tbsp. cornstarch
3 egg yolks
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tbsp. butter

Add sugar, cornstarch, and salt to egg yolks in mixing bowl. Then pour scalded milk into this mixture; stir together and pour back into pan. Stir constantly until thick; take off burner and add butter and vanilla. Add bananas or coconut. Put into baked pie crust or graham cracker crust. Use the egg whites after pie has cooled down for the meringue. Beat egg whites until stiff; add sugar to taste.
