PAPER BAG APPLE PIE
1 unbaked 9 inch pastry shell
4 lg. baking apples
1/2 c. sugar for filling
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. sugar for topping
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter

Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, nutmeg and cinnamon in a cup, sprinkle on sliced apples, stir to coat well. Spoon into pie shell, drizzle with lemon juice.

Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour for topping in a bowl. I add a little cinnamon, cut in butter and sprinkle over apples.

Slide pie into a large brown paper bag, fold open end down twice and fasten with 2 or 3 paper clips. Place on cookie sheet. Bake in 425 degree oven for 1 hour. Apples will be tender and top bubbly, golden brown. Let cool before you open bag.
