PORCUPINE BALLS IN TOMATO SAUCE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. uncooked rice
1/3 c. milk
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 can condensed tomato soup
1/2 c. water
3 tbsp. onion, chopped
1/4 c. cracker crumbs
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. salad oil
1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems & pieces, undrained

Combine beef, onion, rice, crumbs, milk and seasonings. Shape into 1" balls. Fry slowly in oil in heavy skillet. Turn to brown evenly. Add soup mixed with water. Cover and simmer about 1 hour. Stir mushrooms and liquid into gravy in pan; heat.
