STRAWBERRY SHORT - CUT CAKE 
1 1/2 c. miniature marshmallows
2 c. strawberries or 2 (10 oz.) pkgs. frozen, thawed and drained berries (reserve syrup)
1 (3 oz.) pkg. strawberry Jello (dry)
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. shortening
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Generously grease bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle the marshmallows over the bottom evenly. Combine the berries, Jello, and reserved syrup. Stir thoroughly. Set aside. Combine flour, sugar, shortening, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla, and eggs. Beat thoroughly for 3 minutes. Pour batter over marshmallows. Spoon strawberry gelatin mixture over the batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
