BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
1/2 doz. sm. white onions
1 doz. cucumbers, slice thin

Cover with ice and 2 tablespoons salt. Let stand 1 hour. Drain.

1 pt. vinegar
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. white mustard seed
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. celery seed
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. tumeric

Add cucumbers. Bring to a scald. Seal in jars.
