YEAST BREAD 
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 c. Pet evaporated milk
3/4 c. water
1/4 c. shortening, melted
3 tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. salt
5 to 5 1/2 c. flour, sifted

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup water. Mix yeast mixture, evaporated milk, water, shortening, sugar and salt in large bowl. Add 3 cups of flour and beat until smooth. Stir in about 2 cups additional flour. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead until smooth and elastic. Shape into smooth ball. Place in greased bowl. Grease dough lightly, cover and let rise until double in size. Punch down. Cover again and let rise until double in size. Divide in 2 equal parts and shape in loaves. Put into greased pans measuring about 9 x 5 x 3 inches. Cover and let rise until double in size. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until bread shrinks from sides of pan. Turn out on wire rack to cool.
