PRETZEL DESSERT | |
3/4 c. butter, softened 3 tbsp. sugar 2 3/4 c. (about 12 oz. bag) crushed pretzels, not too fine 1 c. sugar 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened 1 carton (4 oz.) frozen whipped topping, thawed 2 c. boiling water 2 pkgs. (3 oz.) strawberry flavored gelatin 1 pkg. (16 oz.) frozen sliced strawberries In medium mixing bowl, cream together butter and 3 tablespoons sugar. Add pretzels. Press into 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven. Cool. In medium mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup sugar and cream cheese. Fold in frozen whipped topping. Spread over cooled pretzel crust. Chill. Pour boiling water over strawberry gelatin. Stir to dissolve. Add frozen strawberries and stir until thawed. Chill until gelatin is slightly thickened. Spoon gelatin over cream cheese layer. Chill until set. Cut into squares and serve. Garnish with additional whipped toppings, if desired. Serves 24. (I use an 8 ounce carton of whipped topping, adding the 4 ounces to dessert and using the remaining topping for garnish on each square. I put 1/2 fresh cut strawberry on each square in center of whipped topping.) |
