"REAL" FRENCH ONION SOUP 
2 med. onions, sliced very thin
3 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. flour
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can beef consomme
1/2 can water
2 slices French bread
1 tbsp. olive oil
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 lb. grated Mozzarella
1/4 lb. grated Swiss cheese

Saute onions in 2 tablespoons butter until soft. Stir occasionally to prevent browning. Sprinkle in flour and stir. Add soup and water; boil for one minute.

Heat remaining butter, oil, and garlic in small skillet. Fry bread in mixture. Place hot soup into two ovenproof bowls or soup servers. Place slice of bread in each and sprinkle cheese evenly on both.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.
