GLAZED BAKED APPLES COINTREAU 
6 lg. baking apples
1 tbsp. grated orange peel
1 c. orange juice
3/4 c. brown sugar
Dash of salt
1/2 c. slivered almonds
2 tbsp. Cointreau

Core apples about 1/3 of the way down from stem end, set in baking pan pared ends up. Mix together orange peel, orange juice, brown sugar, and salt in a pan and bring to a boil; pour over the apples.

Bake at 350 degrees until apples are tender, basting several times with the orange syrup. Just before serving dribble the Cointreau over the apples and sprinkle a few almonds over each one. Serve with cream, plain or whipped.
