STRAWBERRY SQUARES | |
1 c. sifted flour 1/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 1/2 c. butter, melted 2 egg whites 1 c. granulated sugar 2 c. sliced fresh strawberries 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1 c. whipped whipping cream Preheat oven 350 degrees. Stir together flour, brown sugar, chopped nuts and melted butter; spread evenly in shallow baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle 2/3 of the crumbs in 13x9x2 pan. Combine egg whites, sugar, berries and lemon juice in large bowl. With electric mixer beat on high to stiff peaks, about 10 minutes. Fold in whipped cream. Spoon over crumbs. Top with remaining crumbs. Freeze about 6 hours or overnight. Cut in squares. Trim with whole strawberries. |
