2 c. sifted flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 c. melted butter 4 egg whites, unbeaten 1/2 c. honey 2 tbsp. milk 3/4 c. finely cut dates 3/4 c. chopped walnuts Mix sifted flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add melted butter, honey, egg whites and milk. Stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Fold in dates and nuts. Turn into 13x9 inch greased pan. Bake 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes (until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean). Loosen from sides of pan, turn out on wire rack. Turn right side up and cut into bars. |
