TRI-LEVEL BROWNIES 
1 c. quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. butter, melted

Stir together dry ingredients then stir in melted butter. Pat into ungreased 7 x 11 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. Cool.

SECOND LAYER:

3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter (melted)
1 oz. unsweetened chocolate (melted and cooled)
1 egg
2/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk mixed with 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix sugar, butter and chocolate. Add egg and beat well. In separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add to chocolate mixture alternately with milk/vanilla mixture. Stir in chopped nuts. Spread over baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

THIRD LAYER:

1 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Hot water
Walnut halves

Melt chocolate and butter. Remove from heat and stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Blend in enough hot water (about 2 tablespoons) to make an almost pourable consistency. Frost brownies. Top with walnut halves, if desired. Cut into bars.
