WHITE TEXAS CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Pinch of salt
2 egg whites
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring

Cream butter and sugar, add unbeaten egg whites. Mix dry ingredients and add to mixture alternately with buttermilk and flavorings. Pour into greased and floured 17 x 11 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.

FROST WITH:

1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. coconut
1 lb. powdered sugar
1/3 c. buttermilk
1 c. pecans

Melt butter. Add buttermilk and other ingredients. Mix well and spread on cake 5 minutes after taking from the oven. Cool before serving.
