GRAM'S OATMEAL BREAD, VIA
KARLENE IN KITTERY
 
Bake 425 degrees 15 minutes. Reduce to 400 degrees and bake another 15 minutes.

1 c. rolled oats
2 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
2 pkgs. yeast, mixed with 1/2 c. warm water
1 c. molasses
8 c. flour

Mix oats, boiling water, butter, sugar and salt. Cool until lukewarm. Add yeast mixture and molasses to oats and mix well. Let it rise until double in bulk. Punch it down and knead about 10 minutes. Divide into bread pans or rolls and let rise. Bake.
