96 BROWNIES 
12 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
2 1/4 c. shortening
4 c. sifted all purpose flour
4 tsp. double acting baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 dozen eggs
6 1/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. vanilla extract
3 c. walnuts
6 (8") square pans (greased)

Melt chocolate over hot water (double boiler if you have it). Add shortening, blend and cool. Measure sifted flour. Add baking powder and salt; sift together. Beat eggs. Add sugar and vanilla to eggs, beating well. Add chocolate to egg mixture and blend. Add flour and nuts to chocolate mixture until blended. Pour (3/4" depth) batter into 6 square pans (greased). Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and cut into 2" squares.
