FUDGE TYPE BROWNIES 
4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
2/3 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. chopped nuts

Melt chocolate and shortening. Combine sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in melted chocolate mixture. Add remaining ingredients, stir just until moistened. Spread batter into a greased 8x11x2 inch pan.

Bake until brownies start to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Bake in conventional oven at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until tested done. Recipe yields 32 brownies.
