VICKIE'S APPLE SQUARES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk & enough milk to make 2/3 c. liquid
5 sliced apples
1 c. sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon
2/3 c. corn flakes, crushed

Mix flour and sugar; cut in shortening. Add liquid; mix and turn on a floured board. Roll half the dough and fit into a jelly roll pan (10 x 12 x 1 inch). Spread cornflakes over pastry; add apples; then sprinkle with cornflakes over pastry; add apples; then sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon mix over all. Roll remaining pastry and fit over top, sealing the edges. Cut a few slits in top. Brush with beaten egg whites. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes. Drizzle glaze over warm pastry. Cut in squares.

GLAZE:

1 c. confectioners' sugar
3 tsp. lemon juice

Mix together.
