APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. water

SUGAR FILLING:

1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 c. raisins

GLAZE:

2 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 qt. hot water
1/2 c. melted butter

PASTRY: Sift flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together. Cut in shortening until grainy in texture. Add milk, stirring with fork. Add water only if necessary to roll out dough.

APPLES: Peel, core, and stuff with sugar filling. Roll pastry to approximately 5 inch square. Place apple in center of pastry square, pull up corners, and crimp together at top. Bake apples in large pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes (apples must be soft).

Glaze every 15 minutes after tops of crusts are brown.
