2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, sugar, orange peel and vanilla. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Divide dough in halves. Chill 1 hour. Roll out until 1/4 inch thick. Cut with 3 inch round cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees until barely brown. Makes 1 1/2 dozen cookies.
