BLACK WALNUT CAKE 
3 c. sifted cake flour
3 tsp. double acting baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 c. liquid shortening
4 eggs, unbeaten
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom of tube pan. Sift and mix together first 4 ingredients. Add shortening, eggs, milk and vanilla. Beat until mixed. Add other 2 eggs. Beat until blended.

Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Glaze: 3 tablespoons white corn syrup and 3 tablespoons butter; boil 3 minutes and pour over cake.
