KAHLUA 
1 qt. 100 proof vodka (use an inexpensive brand)
4 c. sugar
4 c. water
1 vanilla bean
6 tbsp. instant coffee (can use decaf)

Boil sugar and water until syrupy. Take a little water and add to instant coffee to dissolve. Add that to sugar mixture. Put this mixture into gallon jug with vanilla bean which has been split in half lengthwise. Store in dark closet 30 days. Shake once a week. This tastes exactly like the kahlua you would buy in the liquor store only it is thinner in consistency. Use in parfaits, after dinner coffee or just drink it.
