2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 c. sifted sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 eggs
1 tsp. lemon extract
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. lemon peel
1 tbsp. boiling water

Cream Crisco and sugar. Add 1 egg at a time, beating after each addition. Add soda to hot water and then add soda to buttermilk. Have flour and buttermilk ready and add alternately. Cook at 370 degrees for 1 hour.
