1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream together butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix. Sift together flour, baking soda and cream of tartar and add to mixture. Add vanilla and mix. Chill mixture (overnight is best) and roll out with flour. Cut into various shapes (bunnies for Easter, trees for Christmas). Bake until they start to pull up (5 minutes). Frost and decorate.
