SCONES 
2 c. buttermilk
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
3 tbsp. oil
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
4 - 4 1/2 c. flour

Heat buttermilk to lukewarm. Mix yeast in 1/4 cup water and the sugar, add to buttermilk. Add all other ingredients and beat well. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours. Dough will be sticky. Roll to 1/2" thick, cut in 3"x4" rectangles with a slit in center. Fry at 400 degrees until golden brown. Will keep in refrigerator up to 6 weeks. Can double recipe easily.
