3/4 c. self-rising flour 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal 2 tbsp. dry onion soup 1/2 c. milk 10 wooden sticks 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 egg 1 lb. frankfurters, about 10 Corn oil Mix flour, cornmeal, sugar, mustard, and onion soup together in a bowl. Break the egg in another bowl, add the milk and beat them together. Add it to the flour mixture and stir until the ingredients are well mixed. Put a wooden stick into each frankfurter. Dry the franks with a paper towel and dust them with a little flour. Dip them into the batter so that each one is completely coated. Heat a deep skillet half-filled with corn oil, about 375 degrees for an electric skillet. Drop the frankfurters, stick and all, into the hot oil. Fry until they are brown. Take out and place on paper towels to drain. Wipe the sticks dry. Makes about 10 Togo Dogs. |
