1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. applesauce
1 c. raisins
1 c. bran cereal (All Bran)
1 egg

Sift together flour, spices and salt. Cream shortening and sugar until light; add egg and beat well. Add soda to applesauce. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce-soda. Mix in raisins and shredded bran. Drop by teaspoon about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
