GRANDMA'S "CRACKER JACK" CARAMEL
CORN
 
5-6 qts. popped popcorn
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. dark Karo syrup

Pop popcorn and set aside in very large pan or bowl. Mix brown sugar, butter and Karo in heavy bottomed pan. Bring to boil and cook 5 minutes over high heat. Remove from heat and add salt, vanilla and soda to caramel mix.

Blend and pour over popped corn. Mix well. Put onto 2 each 9x13 inch cookie sheets. Put in oven at 250 degrees for 40 minutes. Stir occasionally. Spread out onto wax paper to cool.
