NEW ORLEANS RED BEANS AND RICE | |
2 c. dry red beans, washed 3 lg. onion, chopped 3 celery stalks chopped 2 lg. bell peppers, chopped 3 bay leaves 2 garlic cloves, crushed 2 tsp. sweet basil leaves 1/4 tsp. red pepper 1 can beef broth 1 can DelMonte Cajun stewed tomatoes 1 lb. bulk sausage, browned and drained 1 lb. link smoked sausage, cut bite size Salt and pepper to taste Combine all ingredients in a 6 quart slow cooker and add water to within 1 inch of the top. Cook all day or until beans are tender. Serve over cooked rice. |
