CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE 
1 c. cooking oil
1 3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. cocoa

Sift all dry ingredients. Cream oil, sugar and eggs, add vanilla. Add flour and buttermilk alternately. Pour into 3 well-greased and floured pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 stick butter
2 c. powdered sugar

Cook sugar, milk and cocoa over low heat for 3 minutes. Remove from heat, add butter and powdered sugar.
