THUMB PRINT COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (I use 1/2 c. Crisco, 1/2 c. butter)
1/2 c. white sugar
2 egg yolks
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. sifted flour

Mix shortening. Add sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Sift flour and salt and mix. Roll dough into one inch balls. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 minutes. Press spoon on top of each one, bake about 12 minutes longer. When completely cooled, put spoonful of icing on each cookie. This is a nice recipe for the holidays, using the desired colors.
