CONGO BARS 
2/3 c. shortening
1 box brown sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 c. nuts, broken
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla or maple flavoring
2 3/4 c. flour

Melt shortening and add to sugar; cream. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add dry ingredients that have been sifted. Add nuts and chocolate chips (mixture will be stiff). Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 inch square pans about 30 minutes or less.
