ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
3 1/2 c. flour
1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
1 (16 oz.) pkg. orange slice candy
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 can coconut
2 c. walnuts, chopped into sm. pieces
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to shortening mixture. Pour into a greased and floured loaf pan or tube pan. Bake until center springs back when touched, about 1 1/2 hours, in a 300 degree oven. Spoon frosting over cake while cake is hot.

QUICK FROSTING:

1 sm. can frozen orange juice concentrate
2 c. confectioners' sugar

Mix well; spoon over hot Orange Slice Cake.
