ROMAN APPLE CAKE | |
Combine in mixing bowl: 1 c. sugar 2 1/4 c. flour 1/4 tsp. salt 3/8 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon Beat in: 2/3 c. shortening (I use oil) 2 eggs 2/3 c. milk 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla Add 3 cups chopped apples, raw. Mix well. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Cover with topping: 1 tbsp. melted butter 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/3 c. brown sugar 2 tsp. flour 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1/4 c. rolled oats (I use more) Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Serves 12 to 16. |
