HERBED BEER BREAD | |
1 tbsp. shortening 3 tbsp. cornmeal 3 cups all-purpose flour 3 tbsp. sugar 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese 1 tbsp. Italian seasoning 1 (12 oz.) can beer (at room temperature) 2 tbsp. butter Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease a loaf pan with the shortening and sprinkle bottom and sides with the cornmeal. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cheese and seasoning. Mix well. Stir in beer to produce thick batter. Turn batter into pan. Bake at 325°F for about 65 minutes. Brush baked loaf with softened butter and sprinkle with additional cornmeal, if desired. Turn out and cool on rack. |
