1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. raisins
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda

In pan mix first 7 ingredients. Heat until butter has melted. Cool to lukewarm. Stir in flour and baking soda. Pour into greased and floured 7 x 10 loaf or square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Test for doneness.
